| September 29, 1999 Alcoa Automotive started working with Spec-Weld Technologies before the Northwood plant started welding production materials. Spec-Weld was instrumental in the training of welders, robotics cell operators and provided the Advanced Cell Techs the welding knowledge they needed. Spec-Weld developed in-house welder training and certified Alcoa welders to the welding processes during the plant start-up. Spec-Weld also provided support services for weld verification. They assisted in establishing procedures for cross-sectioning and inspection. Spec-Weld helped set up one of our robotics lines and established weld schedules and program paths for the process. They provided inspection services for finished products during launch and continued to give the feedback necessary to continually improve the weld quality. Spec-Weld has worked with Alcoa for three years and earned one of our quarterly vendor awards during that period. The skills and resources provided by Spec-Weld were important during plant start-up and multiple product launches. Click the logo above to view the actual letter |

Currently Riker Products and Spec-Weld have a four-year journeyman program established at our plant, training is related to our production and product needs. In the future Spec-Weld will be helping with recommendations on upgrading of welding processes and tooling.
